Image Analysis PicEd Cora:
Databases

ne of our main intention in the creation of a database was to ensure the security of data. It has to be guaranteed, that access to datas is guaranteed also in many years. Therefore a standard SQL format is used.

Two database platforms are available: Microsoft Access and Microsoft SQL Server (Vers 7.0 and 2000).

The Access platform is suited for single computer or small networks. The SQL Server platform has to be choosen for large databases and many users.

The templates for data input can be configurated by the user. One possible outlook is shown below.

Database creation and Query:

The PicEd Cora database provides tools to generate image database in SQL Format. With theese tools templates to enter text, numbers, Yes/No fields, fields with defaults (e.g. date) are easily generated.

The number of images in a dataset is practically unlimited. The size of comment fields is not limited. Existing databases can be modifyed, e.g. by adding additional fields.

To execute queries, experts can use the complete SQL command set. User not so familiar with SQL are assisted by an interactive query tool.

Backup and user rights:

Because PicEd Cora is embedded in SQL Server/Access many handling problems are solved by the established mechanisms of these databases. This concerns also the backup mechanisms and the controlling of user rights.
