If pores of sizes 10µm have to be
detected, the field of view in a microscopic image is of size 1-2 mm.
If areas of size 1 cm have to be evaluated the sample has to be scanned in
segments.
A reasonable solution is a motorized scanning stage, which is controlled by the PicEd Cora software.
The scan stage modul allows to
define rectangular or circular scan areas. During the scan every segment image
is stored on the hard disk.
After scan two evaluation methods are available.
1. Evaluation of images separately
This is the fast method. However particles extending over several segments are counted not correct. Either they are omitted or cutted into smaller ones.
2. Evaluation of composed image
This method requires sufficient memory. All stored images are first composed to form a large image of the whole scanned area. Then the analysis is done on the composed image.
