Image Analysis PicEd Cora: 
Particle distribution, Particle counting


Counting of particles and evaluation of size distribution is an essential part of image analysis. 

The application of this function is widespread. Some examples:

- Grains in metallographical probes (grain size distribution)
- Holes in cast iron or aluminium probes
- Pollution particle in filter condensate (cleanliness determination)
- Phasecontents in alloys
- Cell nucleus distribution in biological spezimens

This image is composed of two parts. Left and right side are microscopic images of a two waferslides, chemically cleaned with different methods. Particles to be counted are marked red. Typ A cleaning seems to produce smaller white particles on the average.

The result of the evaluation can be displayed in an histogramm, containing additional information like average, standard deviation etc.

Red vertical line markes average value. In this case amounting to 98µm². In this sample the average value amounts 66µm²

Besides areas, PicEd cora allows to evaluate other object properties like diameter, circumference etc.
