Image Analysis PicEd Cora: |
Counting of particles and evaluation of size
distribution is an essential part of image analysis.
The application of this function is widespread. Some examples:
- Grains in metallographical probes (grain size distribution)
- Holes in cast iron or aluminium probes
- Pollution particle in filter condensate (cleanliness determination)
- Phasecontents in alloys
- Cell nucleus distribution in biological spezimens
Sample of size distribution analysis:

| This image is composed of two parts. Left and right side are microscopic images of a two waferslides, chemically cleaned with different methods. | Particles to be counted are marked red. Typ A cleaning seems to produce smaller white particles on the average. |
The result of the evaluation can be displayed in an histogramm, containing additional information like average, standard deviation etc.

| Red vertical line markes average value. In this case amounting to 98µm². | In this sample the average value amounts 66µm² |
Besides areas, PicEd cora allows to evaluate other object properties like diameter, circumference etc.
